This is the final week of field.
On Tuesday we helped with the Thanksgiving Party and gave a farewell lesson. It was kind of an emotional day for us. All the students in the class wrote us thank you notes. These notes said what they liked most that we taught them. One girl that struggles wrote Mrs. Jones I am going to miss you ever since you came around to help me all of my grades have improved. When we first started working with this class she told us the students that struggled the most and had us go around and help them. She also told us last year this student had a her main teacher for Math and English and scored higher on Science which she rotated around to different teachers for. She believes that the main teacher could see this student struggling and didn't know how to help, but the science teachers figured out the best way to help this student. I figured out she just needed people to catch her mistakes before she taught herself to do it wrong. If I could catch it early then she was fine, but if not I had to change everything and teach her correctly.
From this experince I learned that as teachers we just need to figure out how they are doing something and help them learn a better way to do it. One student would do Math in a wierd way, but kept getting the right answer. The teacher said as long as he is getting the answer right he knows how to do it once he starts getting it wrong she will figure out how he is doing it and help him to learn a better way.
